Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how CutStack ("the service", "we", "us") handles information when you use the web application at CutStack.app. The service is operated by Christian Lessner, Fehmarnstr. 8, 22047 Hamburg, Germany. Contact: [email protected].
1. Files you upload
CutStack processes the timeline files (FCP7/XMEML and FCPXML) you choose to upload. These files are sent to our server, parsed and consolidated in memory only, and are not written to permanent storage. Once your request has been answered, the uploaded content is discarded. We do not retain copies of your timelines and we do not use them for any purpose other than producing the result you requested.
Be aware that timeline files can themselves contain information such as source file names, file paths (which may include user or computer names), reel names, timecodes and camera metadata. This information is only used to generate your consolidated output and is not stored or shared.
2. Hosting
This website is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM, Neue Medien Mnnich, Hauptstrae 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany. The provider acts as a processor on my behalf on the basis of a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. The servers are located in Germany.
In order for this website to be delivered to you, your browser necessarily transmits certain information to the web server, in particular your IP address, the page or file requested, the date and time of the request, the referring page where transmitted, and the browser type and operating system reported. This information is required on a purely technical level in order to establish the connection and to send the requested content to your device.
The web server writes an access log for this website. Before an entry is created, your IP address is fully anonymised: it is replaced by 0.0.0.0, so that at no point is an IP address contained in the log file. An entry consists of the date and time of the request, the page or file requested, the HTTP status code, the volume of data transferred, the referring page where transmitted, and the browser identification transmitted. Because of the anonymisation, these entries cannot be attributed to an individual visitor.
Independently of this, the hosting provider may process data at the level of its own infrastructure, for example in firewall, network or abuse prevention systems, in order to ensure the security and availability of its servers. I have no influence over the details of this processing. Further information is available in the privacy information published by the hosting provider.
Purpose: technically sound delivery of this website, analysis of technical faults, and investigation of attacks on this website.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in the secure and stable operation of this website.
Retention: the log files contain no personal data. They are deleted after 30 days at the latest.
3. Cookies and tracking
CutStack does not set cookies and does not track you across websites. No user accounts are required and no advertising or profiling takes place.
4. Web Analytics
This website uses Swetrix, an open-source web analytics tool. Swetrix is not embedded as an external service, it is operated by me on my own server located in Germany. No analytics data is transmitted to third parties.
Swetrix operates without cookies and without storing any information on visitors' devices (no local storage, no browser cache access). Consent under Section 25 TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act) is therefore not required.
The following data is processed with each page view:
- page visited, date and time
- referrer (the referring page) and, where applicable, UTM campaign parameters
- browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution
- approximate location at country, region, and city level, derived from the IP address
- technical performance data for the page (e.g., load times)
To distinguish returning visits within a single day, Swetrix generates a cryptographic hash from the IP address, user agent, and a project-specific identifier, which is additionally combined with a randomly generated salt value that changes daily. This process takes place exclusively in memory; the IP address itself is not stored. Once the daily salt changes, the hash can no longer be traced back to an IP address. No data is combined across multiple days, devices, or websites, and no user profiling takes place.
Purpose: to understand which content is viewed and how visitors reach this website, and to identify technical problems.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in the statistical analysis of usage behavior in order to design and improve this website according to user needs. Given the anonymization described above, the impact on data subjects' rights is minimal.
The server on which Swetrix runs is provided by netcup GmbH, Daimlerstrae 25, 76185 Karlsruhe, in a data center located in Germany. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with netcup.
Retention: analytics data are deleted no later than 24 months after collection.
5. Third-party services
All fonts and assets are served directly from our own server. CutStack does not load web fonts, scripts or other resources from third-party content delivery networks, so no data is transmitted to such providers when you use the service.
The service is hosted by All-inkl.com, which processes the request data described above on our behalf as a data processor.
6. How long we keep data
Uploaded timeline files are not retained beyond the duration of the request that processes them.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law (including the GDPR), you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the service evolves. The current version is always available on this page, with the date of the latest revision shown above.
9. Contact
For any questions about this policy or your data, contact Christian Lessner at [email protected].
